BHCS science Dialouge Series I report

abstract

The first inaugural webinar focused on the theme “Bhutan As A Biodiversity Wonder in the Himalayas” was conducted on 23rd November, 2020. Inaugurated by the Minister of Agriculture and Forests, Royal Government of Bhutan; Resident Coordinator for the UN in Bhutan; and, the Vice-Chancellor of the Royal University of Bhutan, the event brought together 242 registered participants from policy and decision-making, civil servants, researchers, academics, development partners, civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, and students from across the globe on a virtual platform. Staff of the Office of the Vice Chancellor and reporters from various media houses also attended the inaugural event in real time as it was launched at the Gawa Hall, Royal University of Bhutan.

This report, therefore, is a summary of the first BHCS Dialogue series and includes an overview of the presentations, discussions, and way forward from the event.

BHCS Science dialogue series ii report

Abstract

The second Bhutan Himalayan Climate Studies Science Dialogue Series on the theme “Climate Change on Mountain Livelihood and Forestry” was launched on 11 March, 2021 at the college of Natural Resources (CNR).

Prepared in collaboration with the Centre for Sustainable Mountain Agriculture at CNR, the Dialogue Series brought together 142 participants comprising of researchers, policy and decision makers, academics, development partners, and staff and students of CNR. The event was also joined online by selective universities in Australia and also by the Royal Thimphu College, Bhutan. With CNR’s mandate focused on the nexus of food security and climate change, the President of  CNR, remarked this event an opportunity to bring together minds for dialogue and future actions as Bhutan ventures on mitigation and adaptation measures related to food security.

This report, therefore, is a summary of the second BHCS Science Dialogue series and includes an overview of the presentations, discussions, and way forward from the event.
